Behind the smirking man stood two more unfamiliar faces. Ange tried to slam the door shut, but he was too late. The man wedged his foot in the gap, forcing his way inside, pushing Ange back as he barged into the room.
With no strength in his body, Ange stumbled backward, falling helplessly onto the floor. The other two men followed, and the door was slammed shut with a loud thud.
"Come on, don't be so cold. You don't remember me?"
"I don't know you! Get out!"
Ange glared up at the man with fierce defiance.
But the man's gaze didn't meet Ange's eyes. Instead, it traveled down his body, and a lewd smile spread across his face.
"Well, well… quite the sight. Seems like you've had a bit of fun, huh?"
It was then that Ange glanced down at himself.
Sitting there on the floor, his legs were spread, and the shirt he had hastily thrown on hung loosely open. His chest, still flushed from the afterglow, revealed reddened nipples, and his lower half, completely bare beneath the shirt, was exposed to their shameless stares.
Panicking, Ange quickly pulled his shirt closed and crossed his legs. But before he could move further, the man squatted down in front of him, leaning in close.
"Come on… You really don't remember me?"
"I said, I don't know you!"
Ange's sharp glare and shout only made the man laugh out loud.
"Haha, same old attitude. Didn't I teach you to use proper respect when speaking to your elders?"
"…"
At those words, Ange's memories slowly stirred.
He had bumped into this man once while wandering the downtown streets. A member of the Mantagna Clan, the mafia that ruled Eastschist.
"Why are you here?"
Back then, the man had offered to introduce him to some "work," and Ange had almost followed him—until Amber stepped in and stopped him. If Amber hadn't intervened that day, Ange knew he wouldn't be here now.
"So, you do remember," the man said with a smirk.
"Even if I do, I don't want anything to do with you. Now get out."
"Even if you don't want anything from me, I want something from you. You're coming with us to the office."
"What? Why the hell would I go with you?"
"You were a candidate to be Ian's mate, weren't you? But when the full moon came, you didn't bond."
"…"
"The Omegas from that shop either become the mate of the Tikaani heir and bear an Alpha's child, or they're handed over to us to be auctioned off. That's how it works."
That was the dark secret of the Tikaani family. For over a hundred years, they had been intertwined with the Mantagna clan, sending their Omegas to be sold off in exchange for access to illegal heat-inducing drugs.
"…That has nothing to do with me. I'm already Amber's—no, Aaron's—mate. So—"
Ange's words were abruptly cut off as the man's hand grabbed the back of his neck, yanking him closer. His breath was hot against Ange's skin.
"Ah, so that's why your scent's so faint, even though you're in heat. But a wolf's nose… can still pick up an Omega's suppressed pheromones, you know."
—Is this man a wolf, too?
As that thought crossed Ange's mind, the man pressed his nose to Ange's neck, inhaling deeply.
"You smell amazing."
"Don't… touch me…"
A wave of revulsion surged through Ange, his skin crawling with discomfort.
"So you're bonded, huh? But if I were to take you right here, right now… who's to say whose child you'd be carrying?"
The man's tongue slid across Ange's neck as he whispered in his ear, tracing the spot where Amber had left his permanent mark.
