With Amber gone, the room suddenly felt eerily quiet. Ange curled up tightly under the blanket, hugging his knees.

 

"Come back soon…"

 

He had just said it, just as Amber had left, but already he missed him.

 

From the moment he had been taken in by his father, to the time spent in the orphanage, Ange had never had anyone by his side. He had always been alone. And for a long time, he had convinced himself that being alone was easier, less painful.

 

But now, things had changed. It hadn't even been that long since they had met, but somehow it had become natural to have Amber beside him. And now that they were bonded, even the smallest separation felt unbearable.

 

Yet…

It made sense for Ange to leave the Tikaani household. That was inevitable. But had it really been the right thing to involve Amber, cutting him off from that home as well?

Lying on his back now, Ange slowly ran a hand over his belly.

After leaving the orphanage, Ange had struggled to find work. As an Omega, his options had been limited, with selling his body as the most obvious way out.

 

But now, with Amber beside him, he didn't want that life anymore.

If there really was a child on the way, Ange swore he would never let them suffer the same fate.

 

But that would mean leaning on Amber for everything, burdening him with all these responsibilities.

 

A heavy sigh escaped Ange's lips.

 

Amber had rescued him, taken him away from that house, from that life.

 

But now, the guilt of having shattered Amber's promising future weighed on Ange's heart, threatening to crush him.

 

No matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't see a way out of their situation.

 

"Maybe I should take a shower…"

 

The more he thought, the more his anxiety grew. Perhaps if he could clear his head, something—anything—might start to make sense.

 

—"Let's shower together."

 

Amber's words suddenly echoed in his mind, and Ange couldn't help but smile.

 

"No way… that's way too embarrassing…"

 

Muttering to himself, Ange attempted to stand. He gingerly placed his feet on the floor, gripping the bedpost for support as he slowly lifted his body.

 

"Ugh…"

 

His whole body ached, bones and muscles groaning in protest. Each step sent a sharp pain through his hips, but despite the discomfort, the warmth that still lingered inside him was stronger. His body, still remembering Amber, pulsed with a deep, lingering heat.

 

It wasn't the pain that stood out—it was the overwhelming joy of having been loved for the first time.

 

Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Ange froze.

 

Hadn't he just heard a car pull up outside?

 

—Is he back already?

 

Surprised at how quickly Amber had returned, Ange grabbed a shirt off the floor, awkwardly slipping his arms into the sleeves as he stumbled towards the door.

 

"You have the key, don't you?"

 

—Open it yourself, he thought, as he turned the knob and swung the door open.

 

(—Wait!)

 

The instant he opened the door, Ange regretted it.

 

Standing there wasn't Amber. It was a man he didn't recognize, though his face felt vaguely familiar.

 

"Long time no see," the man said with a smirk.
