Xu Cheng, who had been silent until now, suddenly proposed the idea of separating, with Zhang Yue echoing his agreement.

 

The elderly Xu couple glanced between Xu Ran and his partner, then looked at their younger son's family. It was clear where their loyalties lay.

 

Xu Ran intended to escalate the situation. Clinging to Liu Tong, he kept whining about the pain, determined to leverage his injury to the fullest; it would be foolish to suffer without gaining something from it.

 

Hearing Xu Ran's complaints, Liu Tong comforted him while shooting daggers at the elderly Xu couple with his glare.

 

The couple was unnerved by Liu Tong's fierce expression. However, remembering they were the elders of the family, they couldn't possibly fear a mere boy.

 

Thus, Xu Ah-mo launched into another tirade, while Xu Ah-pa sought to grab something to strike Xu Ran. Xu Cheng, instead of enjoying the spectacle, turned his attention to his own sons.

 

Xu Hui and Xu Qiang*, following their father's command, rushed to Xu Ran's side and clung to his legs, starting to bite him.

Liu Tong tried to push the two children away, but Xu Ran pinched him at the waist to stop his movements. Liu Tong watched on, feeling an overwhelming sense of helplessness.

 

Xu Ran winced from the bites, letting out cries that echoed in the room. With his mouth already injured from Xu Ah-pa's earlier strike, blood was still trickling from his lips, creating a pitiful sight.

 

Feeling that the village chief should be arriving soon, Xu Ran raised his voice even louder.

 

Indeed, within moments, sounds could be heard outside the door. The two children, racing back, spotted Xu Ran being bitten and were ready to rush in to help.

 

The village chief followed closely behind, stepping in just in time to witness Xu Ran's sorry state. He immediately shouted, "Xu Houcai! Xu Ran is your son. Is this how you treat him just because he's different? Let the child go at once!"

 

The Xu family hadn't expected the village chief to show up. They shot a fierce glare at Tangtang and Guoguo before reluctantly allowing Zhang Yue to bring his children back.

 

When Xu Hui finally released his bite, blood was visible on his mouth, a testament to how hard he had bitten.

 

Seeing this, the village chief scolded the Xu family again. The old couple, however, seemed unbothered, as if they were made of stone and impervious to reprimand.

 

Ignoring their indifference, Xu Ran continued to wail.

 

"It hurts… Tongtong, it hurts so much…"

 

"Beast! Bastard! What are you screaming about? It's just a few bites! You're acting like you're dying. If you're in so much pain, why don't you just die? Go on, die!" Xu Ah-mo seethed, furious that the village chief had come to Xu Ran's aid.

 

At that moment, Zhang Yue exchanged glances with Xu Cheng. Xu Cheng stepped forward, "Village chief, we want to split from Big Brother's family."

 

"Separate? Xu Cheng, it's not up to you to decide whether to separate or not. Besides, Xu Ran is still your older brother; you have no right to speak up!" The village chief held a deep dislike for Xu Cheng, who lived a life of ease and idleness.
