Chapter 13 - Ange, My Angel

Translator's Note:

Hello, I hope you've all been doing well.

Here you go, and I wish you a good read.

Fated Mate (6)

The dim lighting in the room made Amber's eyes shimmer with a golden glow.

A shiver ran down Ange's spine.

But it wasn't fear—this was something else, something new and unfamiliar. Ange swallowed hard.

"…Just kidding. That would be ridiculous, right?" Amber laughed, the tension in the room instantly dissolving. Ange realized just how strAngey nervous he had been.

"Don't joke around like that…"

"Either way, I'm against you bonding with Ian. I found you first, after all."

For a moment, Ange's face grew warm. A feeling—something close to happiness—tightened in his chest.

But then again, this was probably just another one of Amber's playful remarks.

He says that, but he's probably forgotten all about me since then, Ange thought, brushing off the comment.

"You don't have to worry about the bonded mate thing. I've never gone into heat."

To become someone's bonded mate, you had to be in heat, allowing an Alpha to bite the back of your neck during the process of bonding.

Since Ange had never experienced a heat before, it wasn't possible for him to form a bond yet.

"Really?" Amber's face lit up instantly.

"Then if you don't go into heat by the full moon, Ian will give up for sure."

"And then I can go back to the shop?"

No one who had ever been chosen by Ian had returned to the shop. That was the only thing that weighed on Ange's mind.

"If you don't go into heat, nothing will happen. But on the night of the full moon, stay as far away from Ian as possible."

──The full moon.

"Why the full moon? Is there some special meaning?"

Was this what Ian had meant by 'Lunatic Night'?

"In our family, it's tradition to bond on the night of the full moon."

──A tradition…

So, they could only bond with an Omega who happened to go into heat during the full moon?

With that thought, Ange felt a little more at ease.

"For tonight, just get some rest. Tomorrow morning, we can have breakfast together."

"Yeah… that sounds…"

──That sounds nice. See you tomorrow.

He wanted to say that, but the words caught in his throat.

Amber had bent down, bringing his golden amber eyes level with Ange's. His heart pounded so hard it was almost painful, tightening with an almost unbearable longing.

Every time those eyes gazed at him, a slow heat would spread from deep within Ange's core, filling him from the inside out.

He wanted Amber to touch him. To hold him, body and soul, enveloping him whole in that warmth.

──How shameful, he thought.

As Ange slowly closed his eyes, something soft brushed against his lips, lingering just long enough for a quiet kiss before pulling away.

"Good night, Ange."

"…Good night."

Amber smiled, a warm, affectionate smile, before disappearing behind the door.

──One week until the full moon.

No matter how things would turn out, for now, at least, they were living under the same roof.

More than the uncertainty of his situation with Ian, the thought of spending this time with Amber filled Ange's heart with joy.

For the first time, Ange knew what it felt like to be in love.

──But someone was watching Amber leave the room.

It was Ian, who had been on his way to visit Ange.

Quietly watching his brother's retreating figure, Ian passed Ange's door and returned to his own room.
