Mikado shook his hand, then smiled brightly and said, "Handsome guy, aren't you? Starting university in spring, right?"

 

"Yes, that's right."

 

"Landing such a beautiful mate at your age—you're a lucky alpha."

 

"Yes, I truly think so," Kotaro responded with a mature smile. His usual bluntness had vanished, replaced by a polite demeanor as he conversed smoothly with the older man.

 

"Do you have a mate, Mr. Mikado?" Kotaro asked.

 

"Me? Yeah, I do," Mikado answered.

 

"What? Really? I thought I heard something about you being in love with someone you couldn't reach, at Aoi's party. Something about wanting to be an omega, if I remember right," Kotaro said, amused.

 

"Oh… you remembered that?" Mikado scratched his cheek, a bit embarrassed. Just then, Ren and Aoi joined them, each settling comfortably into the U-shaped sofa arrangement.

 

Ren, seated next to Mikado, crossed his long legs and sipped his tea. Kotaro, observing him, seemed subtly tense.

 

Though Suno was used to Ren's presence, he was reminded of how Ren's composed demeanor could feel intimidating to those who didn't know him well. To ease Kotaro's tension, Suno addressed Mikado in his usual relaxed tone.

 

"That's wonderful news. You'll have to introduce us to your mate sometime, Mr. Mikado."

 

"Oh? Well, of course…" Mikado replied, blushing as he stole glances at Ren. Sensing a peculiar atmosphere between them, Suno tilted his head in curiosity. Then Ren placed his cup and saucer back on the table and, with a gentle tone, spoke up.

 

"By the way… Suno, congratulations. I was surprised to hear you and Kotaro decided to become mates."

 

"Thank you. Yes, indeed. I feel so lucky to have caught the eye of such a young, adorable kid," Suno replied with a smile.

 

Kotaro, slightly embarrassed, flushed beside him and muttered, "Don't call me a 'kid.'"

 

"Oh, right, sorry about that."

 

"Geez… you still treat me like a child," Kotaro grumbled.

 

"No, I don't," Suno replied, chuckling lightly.

 

Watching their playful exchange, Ren and Mikado laughed, while Yuto looked on with sparkling curiosity, clearly pleased, and Aoi seemed quietly relieved.

 

When Suno glanced at Aoi, he met his deep, dark blue eyes, and Aoi gave him a gentle smile.

 

There was a time when Suno had yearned intensely for that beautiful alpha.

 

Back then, neither Aoi nor Suno had known about true love. They were both too guarded, and thinking about those days made Suno realize how fortunate they both were now to have found their true mates.

 

Suno returned Aoi's smile and lowered his gaze softly before gradually joining Ren, Mikado, and Kotaro's conversation.

 

—Now, when I see Aoi, I don't feel anything. Just a while ago, even seeing his face would unsettle me… but now…

 

Feeling the changes in his own heart, Suno looked up at Kotaro's earnest profile.

 

Kotaro had brightened Suno's life in an instant. Suno wondered, if he hadn't met Kotaro back then, where would he be now?

 

"Hm? What's up?" Kotaro noticed Suno's gaze and turned to him. Suno shook his head slightly and smiled.

 

"Oh, it's nothing."

 

"Really?"

 

"Oh, by the way, there's something I want to tell you as well," Ren said lightly, drawing Suno's attention. Sitting up straight, Suno replied, "What is it?"

 

Ren smiled more brightly than usual and said, "Yuto is pregnant."

 

"What? Really?!"

 

"Y-Yes… that's right," Yuto responded shyly, sitting beside Aoi, who smiled warmly next to him.

 

"That's amazing! Congratulations. I'm so happy for you both!"

 

"Thank you. You've helped me so much with your advice, and I felt so reassured," Yuto replied sincerely.

 

"Really? Nah, I haven't said much… but still, I'm really glad for you."

 

Though Yuto's loose sweater concealed it well, his abdomen seemed slightly rounded as he smiled softly.

 

Suno stood up from the sofa and sat beside Yuto, gently placing his hand on Yuto's abdomen.

 

—Aoi and Yuto's child... a new life...

 

Feeling the gentle curve beneath Yuto's sweater filled Suno with a tickling warmth and a hint of tears.

 

"When is the baby due?"

 

"In September."

 

"Oh, that's wonderful… You have to let me know as soon as the baby's born. I'll come visit right away."

 

"Yes! Thank you!"

 

"Aoi, I'm so happy for you too."

 

Suno wiped his eyes slightly, and Aoi smiled tenderly, gently rubbing Yuto's back as he thanked Suno warmly.

 

"Thank you, Suno."

 

"So, you're going to be a father. Is that why you've been playing the piano?"

 

"Yeah, it reminded me of when my brother used to play for me as a kid. I thought it'd be nice if I could play for my own child, too."

 

"That's beautiful. It'd be probably great for the baby, too."

 

"Yeah, I think so."

 

Yuto quietly observed Aoi and Suno as they talked so easily together.

 

Some time ago, he did something really bad to Yuto, and Yuto also knew about Suno and Aoi's past. Suno wondered if Yuto still had mixed feelings about it. As he was contemplating, Suno gently reached out and patted Yuto's head. Yuto blinked in surprise but quickly blushed and gave a shy smile.

 

"Hehe…"

 

"I feel relieved, too. But the real challenge starts now. You'll need to be strong."

 

"Yes!"

 

"If anything comes up, just reach out like you have been. And take care of yourself."

 

"Yes, I will."

 

Yuto nodded firmly, his eyes bright and resolute. The sense of pride in those unwavering eyes reflected his resolve as a new member of the Kunishiro family.

 

Yuto had once worried if he could bear a child worthy of their family, but now he shone with a strength befitting Aoi Kunishiro's mate.

 

The glow of new life within him added to Yuto's radiance, and Suno felt deeply proud of how much he'd grown.

 

There was a time Yuto's existence had hurt Suno deeply. And there was a time Suno had hurt Yuto. There was also a painful period when Suno couldn't let go of his feelings for Aoi—

 

If Kotaro hadn't found him, Suno might not have been able to genuinely celebrate Yuto's pregnancy. Suno returned to his seat beside Kotaro.

 

"Suno, why don't you stay for dinner tonight? I'd love to hear how you two became mates," Yuto said eagerly. Aoi nodded, adding, "I'd like to hear it, too."

 

"Eh? You want to hear it? Kotaro, what should we do?"

 

"Uh, sure, I guess. It's a little embarrassing, though…"

 

"Yay! Thank you! I've been so curious!" Yuto exclaimed, his voice full of excitement. Ren sighed and muttered,

 

"Honestly… Yuto, you're so nosy."

 

"Come on, Ren, you were just as curious! Didn't you say, 'How did that happen so suddenly?'"

 

"Well, yes…"

 

"Oh, but isn't it fun to have a big, lively dinner together?" Mikado stood up enthusiastically. "Kotaro, what would you like to eat?"

 

Ren sighed, tugging on Mikado's shirt.

 

"Why are you the most excited here?"

 

"Oh, um, sorry. I just got caught up in the moment—this is such happy news."

 

"Honestly…"

 

Ren's tone was indulgent, and the way they looked at each other was undeniably gentle.

 

Watching them, even though he had doubts about Ren and Mikado's relationship, Suno lightly squeezed Kotaro's hand beside him.
