Chapter 74: Preparing for Spring

About half a year later, in mid-March.

Kotaro had successfully passed his university entrance exams and would soon begin his life as a college student in April. With Kantaro's blessing, it was decided that he and Suno would live together.

One day, the two of them made their way to the Kunishiro residence.

They were going to formally announce that they had become a bonded pair.

*

About a month after the Kanto performance, Suno's heat had arrived.

Sensing its onset, he immediately contacted Kotaro and secluded himself at home with Eiki's support. It was midday on a weekday, and everything had happened so suddenly that he expected Kotaro to arrive no sooner than the next day.

Yet, Kotaro showed up within four or five hours. Upon noticing Suno's message, he had promptly spoken to his teachers, packed lightly, and rushed over.

Suno, though surprised by Kotaro's swift arrival, felt immense relief and clung to him.

Surrounded by his scent, his warmth, and his strong body, Suno felt an overwhelming desire for Kotaro, to the point where he could have cried. Without exchanging words, he pressed their lips together passionately, pushing a startled Kotaro onto the bed.

Just as before, Kotaro held him tenderly, giving Suno all he desired, embracing his feverish body tightly.

That very night, they finally became mates.

As he felt Kotaro's strong embrace and the gentle bite that marked his neck, Suno was filled with profound joy at the sweet ache that lingered.

Their bodies entwined, they kissed deeply, losing themselves in a world of melting pleasure. Emboldened by passion, Suno found himself shamelessly uttering obscene words and shaking his hips, unrestrained and eager, which eventually wore down Kotaro's composure.

There was even a moment when Kotaro held him down on all fours, his movements wild and primal, biting over his mark again and again as he thrust his hips with force, and came inside him many times.

The pleasure that Kotaro's powerful body gave him was overwhelming, melting every part of Suno completely. Even when he was held down roughly from behind by that large frame, not a trace of fear crossed his mind.

Kotaro's hand held Suno's firmly at all times, his whispered words of love endlessly sweet in Suno's ear. Suno's heart trembled with the depth of Kotaro's passion, and in the relentless waves of pleasure that left him breathless, they loved each other with an intense, consuming fervor.

Recalling that day, Suno's cheeks flushed faintly.

Before heading to the Kunishiro estate, he had first visited the Shindo household. Now officially family, he had exchanged greetings with them, shared a meal, and helped Kotaro who was preparing for his new life. After spending the night there, they were now on their way to greet the Kunishiros.

Inside the sedan driven by an elderly chauffeur, Suno was gazing blankly at Kotaro's profile. Then, Kotaro, who had been looking out the window, suddenly turned towards Suno.

"Hmm? What's up?"

"Since we stayed over unexpectedly, you probably couldn't relax, right? You must be exhausted," Kotaro continued to ask.

"No, I'm fine. Your family is really close."

"Really?"

"Really. They welcomed me warmly. I was so grateful."

"Good to hear. Well, my dad's really fond of you, and Mom was thrilled to have another son, so I was relieved too."

"Hehe, that's wonderful."

"We should also go greet your parents soon, huh?"

"Hmm… Yeah, but it's been years since I last saw them… maybe once we settle in after the move."

"Alright. But first, I need to get used to Eiki."

"Ah, sorry about that… he can be quite a handful."

Apparently, Eiki had grown quite fond of Kotaro, too.

It was Eiki who first welcomed Kotaro upon his arrival in Kyoto. Being an omega—and someone who had a history with Suno—it wasn't surprising that Kotaro had initially reacted a bit guardedly toward Eiki.

"He greeted me politely, but his eyes looked like he wanted to kill me—adorable, isn't he?" Eiki teased with a grin, clearly enjoying the moment. Still, there was a look of relief in his eyes.

It was the first time Suno had seen Eiki look so happy, and it put him at ease. They'd grown up like two halves of a same soul, sharing each other's struggles. Though Eiki often nagged Suno, it had always been out of deep concern for his future.

And now, to see Eiki's mate—an Alpha of thirty-five with a calm and grounded demeanor—joining in on the cheerful mood made Suno feel genuinely happy.

As Kotaro would soon move into Suno's private residence, he would naturally be spending more time around Eiki and the others. Eiki seemed excited at the prospect of teasing Kotaro and was eagerly helping to prepare the place.

Having friends who embraced Kotaro's presence was a great comfort. Surely, they could look forward to peaceful, happy days ahead.

Each day filled with such hopeful thoughts for the future felt immensely, profoundly fulfilling.

*

"Whoa… this place is huge…"

It was Kotaro's first time visiting the Kunishiro estate, and he was stunned as he looked up at the grand white mansion. Suno watched Kotaro's honest reaction with an amused smile.

"I thought our house was big, but this… this is on a whole other level. It's like a palace."

"Heh, I thought the same thing when I first came here. And that garden over there, and that mountain too, they're all part of the Kunishiro estate."

"No way… That's insane…"

Ignoring the presence of Seta who was walking ahead to show them around, Kotaro was mesmerized by the vast landscape visible through the hallway windows.

As they neared the living room doors, Suno suddenly heard the sound of a piano drifting through the air. If he remembered right, there was an upright piano in the corner of the living room…

"Excuse me. Mr. Suno and Mr. Shindo have arrived," Seta announced after a knock, his voice clear and dignified. From inside, Yuto's voice answered, "Come in."

When Seta opened the door, a spacious, bright room unfolded before them.

By the window was a warm amber-colored upright piano, and sitting at it, side by side, were Ren and Aoi. Seated close together on a single piano bench, they were playing a duet.

—Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring*, it seems.

[T/N: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is a renowned choral piece composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, appearing as the final movement of two cantatas he wrote in the early 18th century. The piece exudes an uplifting spirit and an intimate sense of peace, which has made it popular for occasions like weddings and religious ceremonies.]

Aoi was playing the main melody, though he would stumble occasionally, hitting an offbeat note here and there. Ren supported him gently, wrapping his brother's melody in a soft accompaniment.

Ren had learned both violin and piano before his studies grew more demanding. Suno didn't know how long he'd been away from music, but his performance was graceful and refined, adapting to Aoi's errors with ease.

The two exchanged glances as they played, each movement gentle and fluid. Suno found himself enraptured by the serene harmony flowing from the piano.

The two swayed slightly as they played, their faces glowing with contentment. The way the brothers smiled at each other, breathing in sync as they created a unified melody, gave their silhouettes an almost divine presence. With the sunlight glinting softly around them, the music seemed to shimmer in the air.

For a while, Suno stood by the living room entrance, lost in admiration. Then, with a slight start, he looked up at Kotaro, expecting him to show a hint of jealousy as usual. But Kotaro, too, was captivated, utterly absorbed in the Kunishiro brothers' performance.

"It's been a while, Mr. Suno."

"Oh, Yuto. Long time no see."

Yuto approached Suno and Kotaro and greeted them in a soft voice. Since Kotaro and Yuto were meeting for the first time, they exchanged polite introductions. Come to think of it, Yuto and Kotaro were the same age.

"What? We're the same age? …You're so tall. I guess that's an alpha for you," Yuto said with genuine surprise.

Looking down at Yuto, who was nearly twenty centimeters shorter, Kotaro asked seriously, "Mr. Yuto is… Mr. Aoi's mate, right?"

"Yes, I am. But you don't need to call me 'Mr. Yuto' or anything. We're the same age, so Yuto is fine."

"Oh, right. And we don't have to use formal language either, I guess…?"

"Yeah… guess we don't," Yuto replied, smiling slightly.

Watching the two of them awkwardly but earnestly chatting gave Suno a warm feeling. At that moment, Haruhito Mikado, sitting casually on the large sofa in casual clothes, raised his hand in greeting toward Suno.

Finally, Suno stepped into the living room and sat across from Mikado.

"Mr. Mikado, long time no see. What brings you here?"

"Hey, Suno. Good to see you. I stayed over here last night."

"Oh, I see. You and Aoi are really close, huh?"

As they chatted, the piano music came to a stop. Ren was pointing at the music sheet, apparently offering Aoi some pointers. Watching the close bond between the Kunishiro brothers, Suno spoke to Mikado.

"It's rare to see the two of them playing piano together."

"Aoi, you know… after he lost his sight, he stopped playing because he got frustrated when he couldn't play as well as before. But he said he wanted to try playing again after a long time."

"Hmm… maybe something changed in his heart."

As Seta served them tea, Kotaro and Yuto joined them by the sofa. Kotaro sat next to Suno and Mikado introduced himself, offering his hand for a handshake. Kotaro shook hands with him a little nervously, his expression tense.
