Chapter 38

 

 

"But... things might not go as smoothly as you hope," Matthew murmured, his words trailing off.

 

Other cities were just as dangerous as Eastschist. Crime ran rampant, and for two young boys, the temptations could be deadly.

 

This country was plagued with mafia organizations controlling entire cities. Considering Ange's vulnerable Omega status, a quiet, rural area would be safer.

 

In that sense, Northschist had some appeal. Though its city center was bustling, just beyond lay peaceful countryside, surrounded by majestic mountains and forests. If it weren't for the persistent rumors of "wolf hunts," it might have been an ideal place to settle.

 

"If you find a place to live, will you contact me?"

 

"I'll be sure to. I'll write you regularly."

 

"If anything happens, call me immediately. I'll make sure the staff knows that any message from Lord Aaron is to be directed straight to me."

 

"Got it, I will."

 

Matthew still seemed reluctant to leave, but at Amber's firm command—"You should go now, don't worry about us"—he bowed and left the room.

 

He still had the task of delivering the traitor to the Mantegna clan. The sun was beginning to set, and if he didn't hurry, he wouldn't reach Eastschist until deep into the night.

 

Watching the two cars drive away from the motel parking lot through the window, Amber turned to where Ange lay on the bed.

 

"Ange, can you move? I've drawn a bath for you."

 

"…Yeah."

 

With Amber's support, Ange unsteadily made his way to the bathroom.

 

Amber guided Ange into the narrow bathroom but hesitated at the door. Though he had said earlier he would join him, now he wondered if Ange might need the space to fully relax.

 

Oblivious to Amber's internal struggle, Ange turned his back to the doorway and let the shirt he was wearing slip off his shoulders, fluttering down to the floor.

 

"…"

 

The sight made Amber's breath catch. Ange's pale, slender back was marked by a large, blue bruise near his shoulder blades, likely from the impact when the traitor had thrown him to the ground. Looking closer, Amber noticed more bruises and scrapes along his elegant curves and slim legs, painfully clear to his eyes.

 

And among those injuries were the marks Amber himself had left—traces of their shared passion, scattered like crimson petals across Ange's skin. Hidden beneath the strands of platinum-blond hair, the imprint of Amber's bite glimmered, an eternal reminder of their bond.

 

Even now, with Ange so vulnerable, injured… Amber's thoughts became clouded with a heat he couldn't suppress. A forbidden desire surged within him, making him burn with a dangerous flame he couldn't easily extinguish.
