In response to Amber's greeting, Matthew raised his head slowly, with a soft smile playing on his lips.

"I must admit, you gave me quite the slip earlier, but I had a feeling you'd return here, Lord Aaron."

His words, though formal, carried a warmth that made his otherwise serious demeanor seem approachable. Matthew's tall, slender figure stood in the doorway, his reddish-brown hair gleaming under the sunlight streaming in from above, sparkling like a crown of fire.

Ange had seen this sight before, back at the Tikaani estate. The way the sun lit up Matthew's hair had always left a lasting impression on him. It was a color so beautiful it was unforgettable.

Matthew was the butler of Amber's older brother, Ian Tikaani. That could only mean one thing—he had come to take Amber back under Ian's orders.

The realization hit Ange like a wave, crashing over him with an overwhelming sense of dread and hopelessness. His legs gave way, and he sank to the floor in defeat.

Seeing Ange collapse, Amber subtly moved to shield him with his own body, protecting him from Matthew's gaze.

Ange's appearance was a mess—his shirt, loosely draped over his body, had been thrown on in haste, now hanging open, exposing his bare chest. His cheeks were swollen from the earlier assault, and the skin beneath the disheveled shirt bore the unmistakable marks of Amber's possessive love.

Amber's voice took on a wary tone as he spoke, "I'm not going back, Matthew."

Before Matthew could respond, the traitor, who had been silent, suddenly cut in with a sneer.

"Hah! Don't be ridiculous. You're going home, little lord. And as for the Omega brat, he's coming with me to the Mantegna—"

Before the traitor could finish, his words were abruptly cut off.

"Please, be quiet," Matthew said calmly, pulling a pristine white handkerchief from his suit pocket and unceremoniously shoving it into the traitor's mouth.

Without missing a beat, Matthew's subordinate stepped in, wrapping tape around the traitor's mouth and swiftly cuffing his hands behind his back.

"Mmff! Mmmfff!" the traitor struggled, his face turning red with rage, but Matthew paid him no mind. Instead, he calmly approached Ange, kneeling before him.

With a gentle touch, Matthew's long fingers lifted Ange's chin, forcing him to meet his gaze.

"You've suffered terribly. If only I had returned sooner… No, it was my mistake to leave him here and pursue Lord Aaron. I should have handled this differently. Please, forgive me."

Matthew's voice was filled with genuine remorse as he tenderly wiped away the blood from Ange's lips and brushed his swollen cheek. But Ange weakly shook his head.

—It's not his fault.

No matter how kind his words, Ange knew the truth. Matthew had come here for one reason—to take Amber away.
