Surrender and Summons
Lu Li accidentally brushed against Qin Yu's bare skin, recoiling as if burned, only to have his hand caught midway and be pulled into Qin Yu's embrace.
Though Lu Li wasn't short, he couldn't compare to Qin Yu's solid build. Enveloped in his arms, they were pressed together so closely that it felt as if he had always been meant to belong there.
Through the thin fabric of his clothes, Lu Li could feel the heat radiating from Qin Yu's skin. The temperature beneath the covers rose steadily, the scent of masculine pheromones lingering around them, and the unmistakable hardness pressing against his back left no doubt: the man was aroused.
Lu Li didn't resist his advances; after all, when he decided to marry Qin Yu, he'd already come to terms with this. More than that, his own feelings had shifted over time, becoming something deeper and more genuine. They were both partners and lovers, so sharing intimacy was natural, even inevitable.
Tonight, Lu Li chose to let himself go.
Qin Yu noticed that Lu Li was more passionate and responsive than ever, igniting the lust in his own dark eyes. His desire grew fiercer, deeper.
The thickening haze of intimacy became too overwhelming. Lu Li couldn't meet his gaze directly, so he closed his eyes, wrapped his arms around Qin Yu's neck, and leaned up offering his lips for a kiss.
Presented with an invitation like this, Qin Yu didn't hesitate. Like a starving wolf, he pounced. Lu Li winced at the roughness, but before he could utter another sound, his lips were claimed, turned into Qin Yu's territory, overtaken with fervor and insistence, his tongue leaving him breathless and numb.
Qin Yu was always direct and intense in bed. Sometimes Lu Li could hardly keep up, but mostly he found himself enjoying it, as it pushed everything else out of his mind. The only downside was waking the next day feeling like he'd been dismantled.
Lying in bed, Lu Li's muscles ached, and he didn't want to move. Thinking back to their indulgence, which had stretched deep into the night, a faint blush crept over his face again.
Qin Yu had no restraint in bed, his stamina remarkable—Lu Li would climax two or three times before Qin Yu would reach his own release. If he didn't consider Lu Li's limits, he might not stop until dawn.
By the time Lu Li woke, Qin Yu was already gone. Thanks to his unique constitution, Qin Yu only needed two to three hours of sleep to be fully rested, a resilience Lu Li couldn't help but envy.
An Ming attended to him, mindful not to slack off since Qin Yu had left explicit instructions. The meals brought to him from the kitchen were kept simple and easy to digest.
After a half-day of rest, Lu Li managed to get out of bed, though the bruises all over his body had not yet subsided.
Lu Li's skin bruised easily and took time to heal, so the marks Qin Yu left often lingered for four or five days, even when he was gentle. Without that restraint, Lu Li probably wouldn't have survived the night.
Healing devices could repair wounds, but in this case, they offered little relief.
For the next few days, Lu Li lived a quiet, leisurely life at the villa, refraining from contacting He Jianbai.
Occasionally, he tended to the flowers or walked around the estate. The villa was vast; it could take an hour to cover the entire grounds. Sometimes he would read in the study, with An Ming standing guard outside.
Qin Yu was increasingly busy, sometimes not even returning at night.
When Lu Li had amnesia, he hadn't known the full scope of Qin Yu's responsibilities, but now he understood. After all, he'd done his research before approaching Qin Yu under orders.
To know one's enemy is the key to victory.
Qin Yu, as the youngest and most powerful general in the empire, commanded the illustrious First Corps, whose reputation he himself had built, charged with defending the empire.
The era of interstellar expansion was a tense one, and relations between empires were far from peaceful, especially with the Solo Empire. Open hostilities had reached a boiling point, with several skirmishes erupting each year. For a general wielding such authority, Qin Yu had little time to spare.
On the other side, General Zhang couldn't wait any longer. Pressure from the Federation's higher-ups was mounting, and soon enough, he had Shen Yuanjie contact Lu Li through the secure star network, urging him to complete his mission quickly.
Lu Li knew that using the star network was the safest way for the Federation to reach him, so he had deliberately avoided it these past few days, hoping for just a little more peace. Once the mission began, he didn't know if he would ever have such quiet days again.
But he couldn't evade it forever.
Eventually, the day came.
