Lu Li's Thoughts

After logging out of the Cosmic Net, Shen Yuanjie contacted General Zhang and informed him about Lu Li's memory loss.

General Zhang hadn't expected this outcome. He had assumed Lu Li's lack of communication for the past two months was because his mission had reached a crucial stage, or perhaps because he'd slipped up and was lying low.

"General, what now?" Shen Yuanjie asked. "Lu Li doesn't remember anything about the mission. Even if we remind him, there's no guarantee he'll be able to complete it, and if he's found out, all our work will be for nothing."

Everything Shen Yuanjie feared, General Zhang feared as well—if not more so.

While Lu Li wasn't the most outstanding soldier General Zhang had ever seen, his skills had exceeded all expectations.

He had placed great hope in Lu Li, yet even he hadn't anticipated that Lu Li would get as far as he had—earning Qin Yu's trust and even marrying him. When General Zhang learned of this marriage four months ago, he grew dissatisfied with the original mission and began devising bolder plans.

Now that Lu Li had lost his memory, if his cover were blown, not only would all of General Zhang's plans collapse, but it would be difficult to find someone else who could replace Lu Li, achieving the same position. So, failure wasn't an option. The mission still had to proceed; hence, the top priority now was restoring Lu Li's memory.

As for how to restore it, General Zhang already had an idea.

After logging out, Lu Li remained distracted, so much so that he didn't notice when Qin Yu, back from his meeting, approached him—until he spoke.

"Prepare yourself for tonight. We'll return to Qin Lu Star* tomorrow."

[T/N: Even if it's called a star, it's still a planet.]

"Qin Lu Star?" Lu Li looked up, surprised.

"You're now my legitimate partner." Qin Yu seemed to know what he was thinking.

The name change was likely intended to ensure everyone knew he was Qin Yu's partner.

Before learning the truth, Lu Li might have been happy about this—it showed that Qin Yu truly cared about him. Now, however, he found himself unable to feel any joy; inside, he was a tangled mess.

Qin Yu had been so genuine toward him. If he discovered that Lu Li had approached him with ulterior motives as a Federation spy, what disappointment he would feel. Lu Li could imagine it—he would probably be furious enough to want to kill the person who had betrayed such devotion.

"What's wrong?" Qin Yu asked, studying his expression.

Lu Li shook his head.

Seeing this, Qin Yu said nothing more and led him to dinner.

The next morning, all personnel except a few soldiers stationed on Star MA01 accompanied Qin Yu back to Qin Lu Star.

Despite its understated name, Qin Lu Star was where Qin Yu often returned after becoming a General. It was a personal planet with defenses nearly on par with the capital planet. Located in the R star system of the Glory Empire, Qin Lu Star had a prime geographic position and abundant resources.

When Qin Yu wasn't home, he often stayed at his private villa on Qin Lu Star. Fewer than five people were allowed to come and go freely there, and now Lu Li was among them. His access extended not only to the villa but to the entire planet.

When they married, Qin Yu had not only merged their names in renaming the star but had also officially transferred ownership of Qin Lu Star to Lu Li. Few people knew about this, aside from the couple and the trusted aide who had helped handle the paperwork.

During the journey, Qin Yu informed him of many things, including this fact.

Lu Li was taken aback. He was nearly certain now that, before his memory loss, he had approached Qin Yu with ulterior motives. Compared to all that Qin Yu had done for him, he felt he hadn't reciprocated even a fraction.

Emotionally, he knew he shouldn't betray Qin Yu, yet rationally, he reminded himself of his allegiance to the Federation and his duty to the larger cause.

That night, weighed down by his inner turmoil, Lu Li didn't appear at the dining table, despite the servant knocking on his door to invite him down.

"Where's the Madam?" Qin Yu asked upon returning to find him absent, calling over An Ming.

"The Madam said he wasn't hungry and that the General should go ahead and eat first. He'd come down when he is," An Ming replied, his gaze downcast. He didn't particularly like Lu Li and had told the servant to knock just once and then leave him alone.

Qin Yu nodded, then started eating.

Seeing that Qin Yu didn't question further, An Ming felt a sense of satisfaction, assuming that Qin Yu didn't care much for Lu Li after all.

"Reheat the dishes and bring them up," Qin Yu instructed after finishing his meal, then went upstairs to find Lu Li. He found him on the balcony.

"An Ming said you weren't hungry?" Qin Yu's voice broke the silence. Lu Li turned to see him before looking away again.

When Lu Li didn't answer, Qin Yu didn't press further. Instead, he stood by his side, his hand gently brushing through Lu Li's hair as he gazed into the distance.

A short while later, An Ming arrived with the reheated food. Catching sight of the two on the balcony, a hint of frustration flashed in his eyes.

"General, the meal is ready," he announced.

"Eat," Qin Yu said, looking down at Lu Li.

This time, Lu Li didn't refuse. While he ate, Qin Yu sat nearby on the couch, reading through some documents. A peaceful atmosphere settled over them.

To avoid disturbing Qin Yu, Lu Li ate in silence. Typically, he finished his meals in about ten minutes, but this time he took half an hour. The moment he set down his chopsticks, An Ming promptly cleared the table, his efficiency noticeably more enthusiastic than usual.
