Chapter 9 - Ange, My Angel

Translator's Note:

Hello, I hope you've all been doing well.

Here you go, and I wish you a good read.

Fated Mate (2)

That evening.

After finishing preparations for the club's opening, Ange entered the cast waiting room, where everyone seemed unusually excited.

"What's going on?" Ange asked.

"They say Ian, the owner, is coming in tonight."

The owner? That must be Amber's older brother.

"He comes in once a month to look for his fated Omega pair," one of them explained.

"Wait, he's not married yet?"

Given that there was a twelve-year gap between Amber and his brother, Ian had to be around thirty. Ange had assumed he'd already bonded with someone long ago.

"But doesn't he choose someone every month? Hasn't he found his mate yet?" Ange asked, perplexed.

"Nope. He picks someone every month, takes them home, but that person never comes back to the club."

"Seriously? That sounds… kinda bad."

He took someone home every month, yet never bonded with them, and those chosen never returned to the club? What could that possibly mean?

"I think... they probably just didn't suit his tastes, and it became awkward for them to stay, so they left."

"Huh."

Still, if there was no guarantee of being liked, why was everyone so excited?

"Ian's such an incredible man. Just thinking about being bonded with someone like him... it would be a dream come true."

"Yeah, but if he doesn't like you, you'd have to quit the club, right?"

Even with the risk of losing their current lives.

"Well, I'll deal with that if it happens. But if there's even the slightest chance, wouldn't you want to take it?"

"I guess... but I'm happy with things as they are."

For Ange, his current situation felt like paradise compared to his past.

Born in the western town of Westschist, Ange had lived with his mother until the age of five. Then, one day, a man claiming to be sent by Ange's father had appeared from Eastschist, and forcibly took him away from his mother.

Ange didn't know how his mother had met his father, but he vividly remembered how hard his Omega mother had worked, day and night, without rest, to raise him on her own.

Ange's father had no heir. So, when he remembered the child he'd fathered in a distant town, he sent someone to fetch him.

──Children born to an Alpha and an Omega had a high probability of inheriting Alpha traits.

But the formal adoption would wait until Ange's secondary gender testing on his tenth birthday.

And then, he was discarded.

The reason was simple: because he was an Omega.

The words his father spoke back then had never left him, still echoing in a corner of his mind, tormenting him even now.

"After all, the child of an Omega prostitute is doomed to the same wretched fate. You'll end up selling your body just like your mother."

The institution he was placed in was meant to be a sanctuary for Omegas, but it was anything but. The director of the facility was a predator, fixated on young boys.

Every night, the director would take his favorite boys to his bedroom.

From the first night Ange arrived until he turned nineteen, he never had a night of restful sleep unless he was too ill to be of interest.
