Chapter 16 - Ange, My Angel
Translator's Note:
Hello, I hope you've all been doing well.
Here you go, and I wish you a good read.
The First Night (2)
"Will you let me in?" Ian asked, the door handle rattling softly as he tried to turn it, though the lock held it firmly in place.
Ange felt a twinge of guilt.
He knew Ian wasn't the type to force his way in or be unreasonable. A week of living together had proven Ange that much.
"I'm sorry, I'll open it now," Ange said, hurriedly unlocking the door. As he cracked it open, Ian stood there, smiling warmly, dressed in a crisp white suit and holding a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
"I was starting to worry you wouldn't let me in," Ian said with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry… Actually, Lord Ian, I wanted to talk to you about something…" Ange began hesitantly, but before he could continue, Ian placed the wine and glasses on the table, laughing softly.
"You can just call me Ian. Starting tonight, we're not strangers anymore."
Ange felt a sharp pang in his chest. He should have told Ian about all this sooner—about not having gone through his heat yet.
"So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Ian prompted, tilting his head slightly as he waited.
Ange took a deep breath. "The truth is… I've never experienced my heat before."
The words tumbled out in a rush, and Ange dropped his gaze, bracing himself.
Ian merely smiled, brushing it off as though it were nothing. "Oh, that's all? Don't worry, I already knew."
He poured the wine and handed Ange a glass, dismissing Ange's concern as if it were a trivial matter.
"Here, take this. Let's toast to our future together."
Ian lightly tapped his glass against Ange's, producing a clear, gentle clink.
──What should I do?
With his plan gone awry, Ange's heart sank, and he found himself at a loss for how to proceed.
Amber had told him that bonding usually took place on the night of the full moon, but if that were the case, since he wasn't in heat, tonight wouldn't be the night.
So why had Ian come to his room?
There was only one possible answer. Even if they couldn't bond tonight, they could still have sex.
Ange had been brought here with the understanding that he was chosen for Ian, selected to be his partner for the Lunatic night. It had been clear from the start. He had accepted that he would eventually have to share Ian's bed.
But now... Now, the thought of being with anyone other than Amber was unbearable.
His mind raced, searching for a way out, but none came. Feeling the weight of his apprehension, Ange tilted the glass in his hand and downed the wine in one gulp.
