The General is Married

Afterward, Lu Li learned that upon discovering his son's marriage, Marshal Qin had summoned Qin Yu back to the Capital Star multiple times in a single day, issuing orders for him to return immediately.

Qin Yu, as defiant as ever, ignored the summons. He had already decided he would wait until Lu Li's body recovered before making the trip, regardless of how much of a stir it caused back on the Capital Star.

Wanting to make a good impression on his future father-in-law, Lu Li hastened his recovery, though he suspected that any favorable impression might be hard to salvage.

Two days later, a spaceship bound for the Capital Star departed from Qin Lu Star's port.

At the same time, news of General Qin Yu's marriage began to spread.

It wasn't Marshal Qin who had revealed it; he understood his son's temperament and knew that releasing the information too soon would only stir things up. He had intended to wait until Qin Yu's return. And it certainly wasn't from Qin Yu's side either—the leak was a complete accident.

Although Qin Yu's information was encrypted, his marital status was not.

It all started when an official in charge of updating marriage records for Empire citizens decided to compile marriage statistics for various demographics. In the process, the official stumbled upon his record. There were very few people in the R star system named Qin Yu, and at first, the official assumed it was just someone with the same name. But a closer inspection revealed that it was indeed General Qin Yu. Shocked, the official asked around about the general's marriage, only to discover that no one knew anything about it.

The rumor spread like wildfire. Many who heard it didn't believe it, scoffing at the idea that Qin Yu could have married in such secrecy. After all, General Qin Yu, whose hands were stained with the blood of countless enemies, was a notoriously stoic figure who seemed devoid of emotion, as unfeeling as a robot. Yet, despite—or perhaps because of—his reputation, those in the Empire dreaming of marrying him could circle an entire planet.

Qin Yu had earned his reputation at a young age and was now famed as the Empire's strongest mutant, also known as the "Machine God of War." Humanity has always adored strength, especially someone so powerful in the Empire. Countless young people dreamed of someday marrying Qin Yu, becoming the general's spouse—a fantasy that reflected just how beloved he was in the Glory Empire.

The news sparked an uproar on several major forums. Most people thought the original poster had ulterior motives—how could it be possible that General Qin Yu was suddenly married? If he were truly married, there was no way the Qin family would remain silent about it.

Countless people flooded the post with harsh comments, tearing into the poster, who was, in fact, the official responsible for recording the Empire's marital registrations. Frustrated that no one believed him, he uploaded the official data as proof. However, even then, people didn't believe it, arguing that data could be fabricated. This comment received an overwhelming number of likes. Furious, the official finally gave up, thinking, Fine, let them cry when they learn the truth.

Seeing his silence, the netizens assumed he had nothing left to say and mocked him gleefully.

Just as the post was sinking, a bold new message appeared, igniting the forum anew.

Someone had seen General Qin Yu arrive with his wife to meet his family and even posted photos of them disembarking from the spaceship. Though the wife's face wasn't visible, Qin Yu's protective posture left no doubt about his affection for the person at his side.

Lu Li wondered who had leaked their arrival.

He had thought their first visit to the Capital Star would go unnoticed, but before they even stepped off the spaceship, they were surrounded. If not for Qin Yu's guards holding them back, they wouldn't have made it far.

Instead of heading to the Qin family estate, they boarded an aircraft bound directly for military headquarters.

The military headquarters was the most heavily guarded area on the Capital Star, aside from the royal palace. The crowd trailing them was quickly held back, watching the aircraft disappear from sight.

"Brother Wang, we hit the jackpot this time!" The assistant's voice trembled with excitement, undiminished by the fact that he'd only managed a shot of the general's wife's back.

They hadn't expected that their speculative stakeout would yield such a monumental scoop.

The assistant's "Brother Wang" worked for a media outlet and had noticed the rumor about Qin Yu's marriage on the Star Network. Though most dismissed it, Wang's instincts sensed something amiss.

He knew the poster personally; the official handled citizen records, and if he dared to say the "unmarriageable" Qin Yu was wed, he had to have some solid proof. When the official posted his evidence, Wang was 99% sure the shocking news was true. Qin Yu must have kept his marriage a secret.

Using every resource at his disposal, Wang learned the time and location of Qin Yu's return flight and had managed to corner them. Although they only captured the back of the general's wife's head, the outing was well worth it—it confirmed that Qin Yu was indeed married. They had tomorrow's headline.

"Let's go back and publish the news," Wang decided, turning away briskly.

The aircraft they were riding in was a military exclusive, distinct from civilian hovercrafts. Each high-ranking officer's craft bore a unique insignia, and the moment people in the military saw Qin Yu's aircraft, which they usually dared not even glance at, they couldn't help but crane their necks to get a look this time.

The recent uproar online about his supposed marriage had reached the military as well. So, when they saw the aircraft parked outside Marshal Qin's office building, all eyes immediately angled in its direction.

Qin Yu was the first to step out, his strikingly handsome face impassive, with his jawline as rigid as steel. His cold, piercing gaze swept over the surroundings, chilling anyone it landed on, raising goosebumps on everyone in sight.

After a sweeping glance, Qin Yu reached back into the aircraft, where a fair hand grasped his, and the rumored "General's Wife" finally appeared.

No one in the headquarters had ever seen General Qin Yu treat anyone with such affection. If anyone dared claim this slightly delicate-looking man was not the general's wife, they would have faced immediate pushback.

And so, news that Qin Yu's wife was a man spread quickly through the base. Despite the severe, disciplined atmosphere of the headquarters, the love for gossip was a universal trait.
