Chapter 1 - The General's Wife is an Illegal Resident in the Star System

Translator's Note:

Hello, I hope you've all been doing well. I have decided to pick this novel as well since I am a big fan of the author. "The Legendary Master’s Wife" is one of the first BL novels I've read, and I couldn't help feeling nostalgic after reading this one.

The next chapter is coming out a bit later today as a small bonus, then the usual release pace will be resumed.

Here you go, and I wish you a good read.

And, as I said before, if you wish to read ahead, you can head over to my Patreon to get early access to all the translated chapters.

You Are the General's Wife

The room was lit as brightly as daytime.

Light flooded the space, its source unclear, leaving almost no shadow or dark corners. Lying on the bed, there was no glare to strain his eyes.

This was precisely the sensation Lu Li experienced as he lay on the large white bed. The light wasn't harsh but rather a gentle, soft white, as if guiding him from his lost state, granting him a new life—one he hadn't anticipated just moments before, when he'd been fighting for survival in a dense, dangerous jungle.

With little energy left to question how he'd arrived here, he simply lay with his mouth open, breathing in the fresh, dry air, savoring the tranquility.

Then, footsteps broke the silence, followed by the voice of a stranger: "Mr. Lu, now that you're awake, why are you still lying down? The military doctor said you only suffered a mild concussion."

Lu Li turned to look at the man, realizing he didn't recognize him. However, he could pick up a hint of sarcasm in the man's tone.

"And who are you?" Lu Li wasn't one to tolerate someone's cryptic attitude without reason, especially someone he didn't know. He had learned to read subtle expressions, and the flicker of impatience on the man's face didn't escape him.

The man froze, then frowned. "You don't remember who I am?" He followed with another question, "Do you at least remember the General?"

The General? Who's that?

Lu Li hesitated, his mind blank.

Taking his silence as a sign of guilt, the man let a subtle sneer slip through. "Mr. Lu, don't think that pretending to have amnesia will make everything disappear. I'll inform the General you're awake, and you'd better think about how you'll explain things to him."

Once the man left, Lu Li sat on the edge of the bed, deep in thought. He vividly recalled every detail of his previous ordeal.

It had been the forest with the highest mortality rate, infested with monstrous insects. Only those who there survived seven days would pass the test.

He had been in a group with four others, and on the fifth day, they stumbled into an insect nest, surrounded by hundreds of them. His companions fell one by one until he alone remained, struggling to survive. Finally, as his strength gave out, he saw a dozen grotesque insects lunging toward him.

He thought he was dead, but then he awoke on this bed, no forest, no creatures—just this unfamiliar room. Had he died and come back to life in this body?

Quickly, he climbed out of bed, eager to see what he looked like now.

A minute later, he stood before a mirror.

The reflection was familiar: a strikingly handsome face with a refined, elegant aura. His peach blossom eyes shone with a vibrant, almost ethereal brilliance, offset by a mouth that, though thin and severe, was softened by a slight upward curve. Even though his complexion was pale from weakness, it only added a fragile allure to his beauty.

It was the face he'd known for over twenty years. He hadn't died; someone had saved him and brought him here.

But what had the man meant? His attitude implied they knew each other; otherwise, he wouldn't have called him Mr. Lu.

Still puzzled, Lu Li stepped out. As he turned the corner, he accidentally bumped into something hard. Before he could step back, it moved two steps back itself.

He looked down to see a small, round-headed robot with a blank expression and black mechanical eyes flashing green, as if awakened from standby mode.

"Hello, Mr. Lu. Is there anything A23 can assist you with?" The robot's electronic voice was flat and lifeless.

A23?

Suppressing his confusion, Lu Li asked, "Where am I?"

"On the Glory Warship."

Lu Li's breath caught at the word "Glory." He knew of a place called the Glory Empire, which ruled over the R star system, and of only one warship bearing this name.

A colossal, sophisticated warship named after the Empire itself—the Glory Warship. Not only a symbol of the Empire's power but also of its advanced technology and peak military strength.

So, he was actually aboard this ship. He pinched his thigh.

Pain—he wasn't dreaming.

"Why am I here? And who was that man just now? Why did he talk to me like that? Do I know him?" Lu Li fired off his questions in one breath, not entirely sure if this A23 robot had the answers.

"You are the General's wife. That man is An Ming, sent by the General to look after you," A23 replied succinctly.
